In this small town, development is vaguely present. The most dramatic change was the installation of electricity 15 years ago. The roads, albeit bumpy, are maintained better than before. (And slowly but surely the 'Ticos' are learning to NOT throw their garbage in the streets!) Last year, amazingly, the telephones arrived!

Pavones' town center is a soccer field ("plaza de futbol") fringed by little businesses. We have a few small supermarkets ("pulperias"), a basic hardware store, many 'cabinas' and a growing variety of restaurants.
Facing the soccer field, looking out to the ocean is our local surf shop, Sea Kings. Alex has new and used boards for sale, all your necessary surf accessories such as a wide range of fins, wax, leashes and kick pads. Surf shorts and lycras, stickers and souvenirs and a wide range of products are worth checking out. Also found in town center is Cafe de la Suerte, our delicious vegetarian cafe offering wholesome treats to nourish us all. And the sweet clothing boutique Ylang Ylang offers creative beachwear and souvenirs. Real estate offices and Clear River sports center, internet café and taco bar are some of the other varieties of local businesses.
Generally there are many diverse activities available here in Pavones. Some of these are:
Note: Beaches in Pavones are undeveloped and unpopulated. Naturally landscaped by high and low tides the coastline is a mixture of sand and rock. There are no dangerous riptides but swimmers should be aware of tidal currents.
